Combined strength of Johnson City FC + Tri-Cities United — TN & VA
Johnson City FC and Tri-Cities United have officially united to form Appalachian Highlands United — now the region's largest competitive youth soccer club. By combining the talent, coaching staff, and resources of two of the region's top clubs, we've built a premier non-profit organization dedicated to player development. The Tennessee Attorney General formally approved the merger, clearing the way for the clubs to combine operations under one organization.
Community roots and competitive excellence.
Regional strength and elite player pathways.
EST. 2025
By uniting our clubs, we can expand opportunities, deepen coaching resources, improve player development, and ensure soccer remains accessible and affordable for families throughout the Appalachian Highlands.
Chavila Visconti
Former President, Johnson City FC
This club creates a pathway for every player — whether they are learning the game for the first time or pursuing opportunities to compete at the collegiate or professional level. Together, we are building one united club focused on developing both players and people.
Kelsey Taylor
Former President, Tri-Cities United

Real moments from AH United players competing across the Highlands.
A pathway for every player.
Every AHU player follows a clear development model that grows with them — building game understanding and technical proficiency from first touch through high school and beyond.
The goal of the AHU Player Development Pathway is to enhance performance by evolving tactical decision-making at every age.
Foundation
U4 – U7
Players understand the concepts of the game and demonstrate foundational technical skills.
Decision-Making
U8 – U11/U12
Players demonstrate technical decision-making and differentiate between the tactical behaviors of offense and defense.
Tactical Awareness
U12 – U14 · MS
Players demonstrate tactical awareness, evaluate the tactical behavior required, and perform the correct technical skill in all game phases.
Individual Performance
U15 – U19 · HS
Players develop individual performance — measuring tactical awareness, tactical behavior, and technical decisions within their selected position.
A player's journey can begin in recreational soccer and progress all the way to the elite College Showcase Team. Each level varies in competition, commitment, and cost.
Top team-based competition advancing to postseason events and college-recruitment showcases. Launching as the club grows.
League games and tournaments with regional travel. Competitive teams from U8 through U19.
A DS2 development tier bridging recreational and select play. Details being finalized for Johnson City and Kingsport.
Where every journey can begin. Home games and local play for all ages, U4 through adult.
Players are placed based on evaluation, age, and development goals. Movement between levels is encouraged as players grow.

Open in Maps The MergerJohnson City FC and Tri-Cities United have united to form Appalachian Highlands United. Here's what current and prospective families need to know.
Team rosters are rebuilt through the 2026-27 evaluation process. We'll work to maintain continuity where it makes sense for player development, but the goal of the merger is to create the best possible teams across the region. Some teams will stay largely intact; others will combine talent from both legacy clubs.
Final 2026-27 fee structures are being finalized by the AHU board. Our commitment is to keep fees competitive and transparent. Full fee details will be published before registration closes — see the Fees section.
Both legacy clubs are being unified under the Appalachian Highlands United identity for the 2026-27 season. New kits, crest, and team identity are being designed. Legacy club history and accomplishments are honored as part of AHU's foundation.
Rec Soccer (all ages) plays at Eastman Park at Horse Creek in Kingsport — same as it always has.
Competitive U9–U12 teams are organized by home city. Kingsport-based players train and play home games at Eastman Park; Johnson City players at Winged Deer Park. No cross-city travel for training at this age.
Competitive U13 and older teams are combined across both cities to build deeper rosters. Home venue (Eastman Park or Winged Deer Park) is set flexibly based on roster geography and field availability. Parents of older players should plan for occasional travel between cities during the week.
Specific venue and practice schedules are finalized after evaluations and shared through PlayMetrics.
Yes. Combining the top talent and coaching from both clubs means deeper rosters, better training partners, and stronger teams competing at higher levels. Players will have clearer pathways to high school, ODP, college, and beyond.
Email admin@ahunited.com and a board member will get back to you directly. We want families to feel informed and welcomed into this transition.
