Understand the Landscape
| Level | Scholarships | Time Commitment | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| NCAA D1 | Athletic & Academic | High (Year-round) | Performance focused. Treated like a job. |
| NCAA D2 | Athletic & Academic | Medium/High | Balance between athletics, academics, and social life. |
| NCAA D3 | Academic Only | Medium | Academics first. Shorter seasons, more off-season freedom. |
| NAIA | Athletic & Academic | Medium/High | Flexible rules, often comparable to D2 in competition level. |
Pro Tip: Don't get hung up on the "D1 or Bust" mentality. Go where you are wanted and where you will play. A starter at D3 often loves their experience more than a benchwarmer at D1.
